Santa Elena is a buried treasure chest of rich Garifuna culture. Surrounded by Black Mangrove, White Mangrove, Red Mangrove and Button Wood, this small community lives above it all in houses built on stilts. The Mangrove forest surrounds the entire East side of Roatan, protecting from hurricanes and tropical storms.
Santa Elena es un cofre del tesoro enterrado de la rica cultura garífuna. Rodeada por el Manglar Negro, Manglar Blanco, Manglar Rojo y Button Wood, esta pequeña comunidad vive sobre todo en casas construidas sobre pilotes. El bosque de Manglares rodea todo el lado este de Roatán, protegiéndose de los huracanes y tormentas tropicales.
